Hi all, I just received my very first egg incubator Janoel 48. As the name sais it is for 48 eggs but I dont think my 7 hens will lay so many eggs in just 7-10 days so I will very likely place only 12 eggs or so.
At the moment I have collected 8 eggs which are kept inside my stable. I keep turning them around a few times a day.
I keep Danish Landrace both black and brown.
The incubator came without the Styrofoam box which didn't make me happy since some say on youtube that its important to keep the incubator inside the styrofoam box to help keeping even temperature.
I am testing the incubator today to see if the temperature and humidity is steady and if the egg tray is turning every 2 hours. So far all looks fine.
Since some on youtube say the thermometer has to be calibrated I used our digital stake thermometer to double check the temperature. The stake one shows 39'C and the incubator is on 37,6'C

How do I know which one is right?
This incubator is the newest version of Janoel 48 which means they have fixed some of the past issues but still Im not sure. Do I have to buy another thermometer to triple check?
Instruction book sais to keep the humidity at 60% until the day 18 and from then on on 65%. Is this ok?
Any and all help and tips MUCH appreciated
